SSStart
II- A screensaver
starter for Win95/98
Download - 150 Kb Approx.
Just put in any directory
you want. Left click the tray icon to fire up your screen-saver, right
click for more options.
The "Run screensaver
at program start" option means that whenever you start this program
your screensaver will also fire up. If you also have "Run SSStart
at Windows startup" selected, you will
have moderately effective password protection of your system.
Why would I want a
program that does that? Well, that depends on what your work (Or home..)
environment is, and how much privacy you need/want. If you don't have
to worry about anyone snooping in your computer, why bother? BUT if you
have to worry someone walking by your desk and seeing something personal
or confidential, you might need SSStart. SSStart places a small icon in
the system tray of the taskbar of Win95- and one click fires up your screensaver.
This is great for
when you need to leave your desk for a couple of minutes (Or longer...)
and don't want to trust the screensaver to fire up before someone snoops
in your computer, or worse, does something malicious. Great for offices
with snoopy co-workers. Although this program will run in NT4.0 and Windows
2000, it is relatively silly, since NT handles its own security.

New
for SSStart II- no runtime files. I have totally rewritten SSStart
in C++, therefore you don't need the Visual Basic runtime files.
Also, the memory used by SSStart is much smaller. No need to create
a link in your startup folder, either.
