Yankee Clipper, a Windows 9x/NTx clipboard stacker/memory program
has been updated. The prior version was listed in the April 1998
PC World magazine "Best Free Stuff Online" article and the August
1998 PC Computing magazine "Amazing Free Stuff" article.
YC Plus is "URL aware"- it can detect most URLs and
launch them from the right click menu. YCP keeps commonly used
snippets or entire documents in instantly accessible boilerplate files.
Yankee Clipper Plus now also supports "Load and Shoot"- select
an entry and then simply place your cursor where you want the text pasted.
In keeping with the developer's (Mine.) opinion that "the
simpler the interface, the better", Yankee Clipper Plus follows the
K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid!) guidelines. It is designed
to be a program that I can show someone how to use in a couple of minutes.
I believe that the cleaner the interface, the better.
Yankee Clipper Plus is designed to be a lightweight program that
you can leave running all the time with no adverse effects. You
simply install it, right-click the program and select "Configure",
and select the options you want- there's only a couple of them. (Remember
K.I.S.S. ?) Now you're all set. You don't have to DO anything, just configure
it so it'll run when Windows starts. Copy stuff to the clipboard like
always, then if you need to recall something you copied in the past, find
it in the listbox and doubleclick. It's like a stack of clipboards. There
is some advanced functionality available for expert
users, but you don't have to know if you don't want to know.
There is a manual available thanks to the diligent efforts of
one of the nicest people I know: Jeremy
Wallach . Mr. Wallach was kind enough to volunteer his services: I
think he figured out that I write half-way decent programs, but I couldn't
write an understandable document to save my life. He's in the Technical
Document business if you ever are in need of an expert. Download
the manual in MS Word 97 format. (Approx 225k ZIP archive.)
Here's the setup- (Approx 450k. Current version 1.91)

Want more freeware or Make-My-Dayware? Try here.
Versions:
1.90: Original release. (11/1999)
1.91: Relatively minor bugfix, and slightly improved
helpfile. (01/2000)
(1) Fixed problem with program not working correctly the FIRST time it
was run. (This was a STUPID mistake on my part- as usual.) Not many people
noticed, so I feel a little better. (Thanks Royce Mitchell III)
(2) Fixed problem of Boilerplate editor save dialog coming up in WHATEVER
directory under Windows NT. (Another dumb mistake.)
FREEWARE- this software is free, and says "Freeware" prominently.
That is to keep you out of trouble with your boss. It's not freeware,
it's Make_my_day_ware. What in the world is that? Well Make_my_day_ware
is software you can do whatever you want with, with one condition: you
have to do something for me. I knew it, you're thinking, right? What does
this ugly guy with the beard want? I want you to do something for me-
for example: you find a really neat website about ancient Egyptian dogs,
tell me about in an e-mail and you're "registered" under the
concept of Make_my_day_ware. ( I actually could care less about ancient
Egyptian dogs, but I would probably get quite a chuckle out of it.)
Another way to "register" your software is to go home and tell
your spouse/child/friend/neighbor that you care about them. You don't
need to tell me that you did it, that's not the point. The point is to
do something to make my day nicer- or someone else's. No fees or registration
numbers, you will know if you are registered or not. On a more practical
note, you could also register this software by sending me a big bag of
money in the denomination of your choice. Hey, it was worth a try...

Advanced Options- This section is totally
unsupported. It should be fairly easy to understand for advanced users-
I don't want any email on this subject unless it's to tell me I made a
mistake. OK? This is not because I'm a jerk (Although I just might be
one.), it's because I already spend a couple of hours a week answering
email from YCP users that has nothing to do with YCP. (Questions about
"Netscape lost the file" or "What is the system tray?".
I would love to teach everyone how to use Microsoft Windows, but I just
don't have the time.)
Command-line parameters: Ctrl-DoubleClick the Icon on the Configure dialog
to insert optional command line parameters.
(1) /R is to delete history files to the Recycle bin. This way you can
reclaim history files from a week, month ago.
(2) /T is to use a Timer to check the clipboard instead of the built-in
Windows message that notifies of clipboard changes. This was implemented
because certain versions of Lotus Notes seem to need it- a clipping will
be missed once in a while.
(3) /N is for NO Confirmation while deleting the entire history.
Each parameter should be separated by a space, ie: "/R /T".
These parameters will take effect on the next boot of your computer.
ShutDown Group- If you create a batch file called "YCPEXEC.BAT"
and place it in the same directory as the application, this batch file
will execute when you shut down Windows or log out. This is more or less
the opposite of your startup group. This can be useful for deleting or
copying files, etc.
Shoot function- If you hold down the Shift key when you click the shoot
button a <CR> (Carriage return and Line feed, actually.) will be
"Shot", also. (Good for Shooting a URL.)
Calendar- YCP checks for a file called "Calendar.EXE" in the
application directory. If it exists, a right-click menu and shortcut are
added. I'm trying to find some time to write a new calendar- until then
you can use this one. (Needs VB4 runtimes.)
